Car Insurance Jaguar (Car Insurance). My 2001 Beetle is giving me a financial headache? My 2001 Beetle is giving me a financial headache? Please keep me sane, I am about to go car shopping for a new ride because my VW is emptying my pockets. Everyone tells me to get more mileage out of the 10 year old Herbie and i know it's kind of possible until the fall. But I want to seperate from herbie and trade him in for a 2005 ride!!!! I kind of get emotional thinking about it . It was my first big expense but it's giving me a migraine! * If possible , any suggestions for really great cars (makes models for 2005 ) no older cars! Thank you ! 2 or 3 years down the road your "NEW" ride will fail as well. the new Beetle is appalling, and you should not disgrace the Herbie name by the association. They are poorly designed, poorly built, and even manage to lack the normal VW reliability. It seems the old mischievous Herbie spirit was so upset, he set out to cripple every last one of them! As of right now i have 1 12 inch Pioneer TS-W309D4 Sub in a sealed box connected to a 1050 watt jensen amp with 8 guage wiring and a capacitor in my car. At first i was really happy with it, and I still am but I feel like going a little louder still. It puts out about 124-125 decibles when i turn it up. Im thinking of adding 2 more twelves in my trunk, as in keeping this 1 12 and adding 2 more. I'm not exactly sure what to do? because if i did that i would probably have to get bigger wiring than 8 guage, probably 4 guage. So idk what to do. Any suggestions? car insurance. It's a little harder now because my Upward Bound classes are thirty miles North of where I live and when they were only twenty two miles North, a bike ride took me two and one half hours one way going up and four hours one way if it were night because its colder and darker and you have to stop and sit while huge rigs are passing on the highway. I think I want a moped because it is legally a bike but it can go twenty miles per hour, I could ride in 1.5 hours to class. I see Hero's for sale but I read a post that it is hard to get parts if you have a problem. I want to know 1. Which mopeds are best. 2. Which mopeds are a good idea as used product. .3. What is a reasonable price to expect to pay for these . .4. How do you find consumer evaluations of them. car insurance. Auto parts : Carburetor Metering Rod Hangers Dodge 2005. Jaguar . How to Adjust Ignition TimingUnless there is a specific reason to alter the ignition timing on a new car, it should be left alone. Modern cars are timed to fire the spark plugs by the computer program, and altering the timing means reprogramming the computer. Older cars, however, are timed by loosening the distributor hold-down bolt and adjusting the distributor housing. The inner shaft that rotates inside the distributor does not move, only the housing. The shaft revolves in relation to the engine and sends the spark to the appropriate plug. Moving the housing alters the exact time that the spark is delivered. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Distributor wrench Timing light Step by Step : 1 Raise the hood of the car and install the timing light. Clip the positive and negative leads from the light to the battery. Clip the inductive spark pick-up lead from the light to the number-one spark plug wire. Car manufacturers number the cylinders in specific orders and route the spark plug wires to the distributor in a certain way. This is important to balance the explosive forces inside the engine. Refer to a service manual to make sure the right wire is selected. 2 Disable any spark advance devices that automatically control the distributor spark delivery. Delivering the spark to the engine needs to automatically change. For example, sending the spark a little earlier at highway speed gives the fuel a split-second longer to burn before it is exhausted out of the cylinder. This helps fuel economy and the engine runs better. On systems that have both a computer and a distributor, the manufacturer provides a specific method for disabling the advance, usually by disconnecting a wire. Older models have a vacuum hose to disconnect that attaches directly to the distributor. 3 Start the engine and shine the timing light at back of the main engine pulley. Behind the pulley is a harmonic balancer. On the balancer are marks. The strobe of the timing light will illuminate the marks while the engine is running. The most important mark to look for on the pulley is labled top dead center, or TDC. 4 Adjust the timing to the manufacturers specifications. Most will be around 5 to 8-degrees before top dead center, or BTDC. The TDC mark is the largest mark, and the smaller marks are degrees before TDC. Loosen the distributor bolt and twist the distributor housing and watch as the timing marks change. Tighten the bolt when the proper timing marks align to the pointer that is bolted to the engine. 5 Reconnect the timing advance and slightly speed up the engine. Read the timing marks again. The timing should show a big change that automatically occurred with the increase in speed. This extra time is measured with the light, and the degrees the spark is delivered before top dead center will race upward as the speed increases. This indicates the time the spark begins, well before the piston reaches the top of its travel and starts back down, is working properly. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.
Jaguar . How to De-Restrict a 50CC ScooterEven when a 50cc scooter is in perfect working order, its top speed is often well below that of other vehicles on the road. This can make driving a scooter a frustrating and potentially dangerous endeavor. To increase the speed of your scooter, there are many aftermarket add-ons you can purchase and install. A cheaper and easier method of improving your scooter's speed, however, is to de-restrict its variator. De-restricting your 50cc scooter's variator requires you to remove a restricting washer from the variator or pulley system of the scooter. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Strap wrench 5mm Allen key wrench Socket wrench 8mm socket Step by Step : 1 Remove your scooter's kick stand by pulling the pin on the inside of the kick stand out completely and then pulling the kick stand off the variator box. The kick stand and variator box are on the left side of the scooter. 2 Loosen the two 10mm bolts holding down the covering of the intake box using a 5mm Allen key wrench. 3 Remove the six bolts holding on the lid of the variator case using an 8mm socket. Three of the bolts for the case on are the top of the case and three are on the bottom. 4 Squeeze together the mechanisms of each of the two pulleys, front and back, as if you are squeezing together a sandwich. This will loosen the pulley wheels, allowing you to work in the pulley system with greater ease. 5 Lock the front pulley wheel in place using a large strap wrench. Put the looped strap of the wrench around the pulley wheel, tighten it and wedge the handle of the pulley in place under the rear pulley. This will prevent the pulley wheel from turning as you unscrew the center bolt holding it in place. 6 Remove the bolt holding down the faceplate of the front pulley wheel with an 8mm socket. Use a reverse or upside down grip while standing over the scooter with your head facing the rear of the scooter to crack the bolt. Pull up on the ratchet (counterclockwise on the bolt) to crack it and remove it. 7 Pull the three pieces off the faceplate of the front pulley wheel. The three pieces are the nut you just cracked, a washer spacing the top of the nut and a starter piece that mates the scooter's starter engine to the pulley system. Keep these pieces together. 8 Pull the faceplate off the front pulley wheel, revealing the pulley belt and rod. 9 Remove the restricting washer on the pulley rod. Step by Step : 10 Reassemble the variator's box in reverse order. Tips & Warnings De-restricting a scooter could increase your scooter's top speed past your state's specified speed restrictions for 50cc scooters. Check with your DMV about your state's specific scooter operation laws or about re-registering your scooter as a motorcycle. Re-registering your scooter will require you to obtain an M-class license. *age increases, the motor spins faster. The power is transmitted to the drive axle through a series of gears, just as the power from a conventional vehicle's revolving crankshaft is transmitted. (If you've forgotten how it does that, review Chapter 4.) The difference is that, because an electric vehicle delivers full torque at all times, the transmission has only a single speed. There's no need to shift into higher or lower gears to increase the motor's efficiency. So it's a simple matter of getting in, turning the key, shifting into Forward or Reverse, and driving away. You may see a cloud of dust — it depends on where you parked — but you won't see a cloud of fumes or hear a rumble of exhaust. Just the whine of an electric motor ramping up. Many problems must be overcome before the gasoline-driven internal combustion engine is relegated to museums and classic car collections. But the industry and various governments are spending billions of dollars to develop functional electric and hybrid vehicles for personal use. The Car of the Future is a matter of when, not whether. It may already be on the road by the time you read this book! Chapter 8 386

Automakers add a couple of gimmicks to keep the water from boiling too easily. These include a water pump to keep it moving; a fan and a radiator to cool it off; a pressure cap to retard boiling; a thermostat to help the engine quickly reach and maintain the proper temperature; and antifreeze/coolant to raise the boiling point and keep the water from rusting the engine and freezing in winter. Put them all together, and you have your vehicle's cooling system (see Figure 8-1). The cooling system is highly efficient. It usually requires almost no work to keep it operating — just a watchful eye for leaks and an occasional check or change of coolant. This chapter explores the system part by part. Chapter 14 shows you what to do if your car overheats and how to maintain and troubleshoot the cooling system and make easy repairs. Chapter 21 helps you get out of trouble if your car overheats on the road. 160 Part": What Makes It Go?.
